Get Off My Lawn
Get Off My Lawn is a 48-page photo-zine, edited and published by Geoffrey Ellis. The zine features the work of eleven photographers who are 34 years and older. Get Off My Lawn is a tongue-in-cheek response to the calls for entry, contests and publications that require “emerging photographers” to be somewhere between the ages of 18 and 34.
The zine showcases photographers who are working just as hard as those in the 18-34 range to produce great work.
We can no longer be in your club, but soon enough, you’ll be in ours…
For me, Dalton Rooney’s work really stands out. I’m sorry - he’s the only photographer in this zine who doesn’t actually fit in the advertised age bracket. He’s younger (just).
But there isn’t really a bad photo in this collection. The work speaks for itself and, despite the theme (which is lighthearted anyway), it doesn’t use age as a crutch. You can think of this as a sampler. A reason to check out these photographers and see what else they’ve done.
By the way, there were 11 different covers available and I’d love to know if anyone has all 11.

"For Thoreau pursuing an intimate knowledge of your surroundings is valuable because it grounds you in the Now, and helps you hold on to yourself in a time of incessant, dizzying change."
